This home has been a true labor of love. Sitting on 4 acres of land, built in 1996 by the homeowner (a seasoned carpenter and residential framing contractor). 1 mile from the Delaware river and state hunting land, this beautiful 2, 400 square-foot Cape Cod has been a place where friends have been welcomed, Upon digging, the foundation ledge was discovered, resulting in blasting. The foundation literally sits upon rock and has always been dry. The sturdy frame was constructed of hemlock from a local sawmill in the area. As you come up the walkway a covered front porch greets you, inviting you to sit with friends and family, read a book with a hot cup of tea or take in a beautiful sunset. Upon entering the open floor plan, you will find a large see-through fireplace that graces the kitchen as well as the living room area. Some wonderful nuggets of days past were found and refurbished while building. In the kitchen, you will find a large porcelain farm sink that has lent itself to the bathing of little ones from time to time. Also nestled in the cozy kitchen is an original 1921 Barstow wood/gas combo stove, used to make many meals, holiday get-togethers, and it’s great for taking the chill out of those early fall & winter mornings. The large open dining room is great for hosting Thanksgiving dinner. The living room has plenty of space to stretch out on one or two oversized couches, take a nap or watch the game. Enjoy the first snow fall sitting in the window seat across from the majestic stone fireplace, listening to the fire crackle as it warms the room. Open beams and creative details made by the homeowner are found throughout. From the rustic upper kitchen cabinetry to the unique tree railing embodying the wide treads stairs, leading to the second floor. The upstairs gives way to a small loft area with large windows, two bedrooms with a shared bath on the left. The master suite with large windows and cedar walk-in closet, large laundry room, and fourth bedroom can be found on the right. A door to a second stairway brings you to a huge walkable attic that has been recently re-insulated with spray foam. The attached two car garage brings access to the kitchen and basement. Although equipped with oil, hot water baseboard heat an option of the outdoor woodstove can be used in place of the oil if desired. This will heat your whole home as well as your hot water. Adjacent to the house sits a 34’ x 44’ three bay barn with a heated floor system and large loft area. A perfect man cave, or if desired, this huge barn has ample opportunity for a work from home office or another living space with acquired permits from the local town. Spring, summer or fall will call you to be outside under the pavilion, enjoying a crackling campfire, and roasting burgers in the large open fire pit.
